Italo’s summer season is starting. From 21 June, intermodal connections will debut in synergy with Itabus (recently acquired by Italo). We start with Campania (Pompeii and Sorrento), Puglia (Polignano a Mare, Porto Cesareo, Nard and Gallipoli) and Sicily (Giardini Naxos-Taormina, Catania, Enna, Caltanissetta, Agrigento, Milazzo, Cefal and Palermo). Four services a day for each destination, connected to the big cities of central and northern Italy such as Turin, Milan, Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Florence and Rome. A new opportunity for travellers, who with the convenience of a single ticket will be able to use Italo trains and Itabus coaches, having pre-established connections and times designed to facilitate travel and satisfy the different needs of passengers. An intermodal service, the one offered by the Italo group, which can boast a fleet of 51 trains and 100 buses, active 24 hours a day all year round.

The new services

Italo confirms the 118 daily services, increasing trips to Calabria (from 6 to 8 each day) and introducing 4 double services, thanks to the union of two Italo EVO trains, thus making 940 seats available. These special services will operate on the Turin-Milan-Rome-Naples-Salerno line, to meet the high demand for transport between the main Italian cities. Then there is the business sector: Italo is formulating a new strategy in view of the autumn for those who travel frequently for business reasons which will include new lounges at the station, new commercial offers such as the special 10-journey booklet for those traveling the Rome – Milan and various other novelties.

The campaign for 4-legged friends

The pet-friendly campaign continues: specially reserved seats for those traveling with their dog and who always want it by their side, by purchasing the service with an additional price that varies according to the route. On the other hand, small dogs (up to 5 kg) can travel free of charge in the special kennel near the owner. Our will is clear: we aim to grow and strengthen our presence in the area. The capillarity that we are reaching, thanks to the new intermodal proposals, will become a strong point of the strategy. We consolidate connections with the train and add new services, to meet the needs of travellers, increasingly oriented towards shared journeys that can be purchased in a single solution, thus reducing navigation and booking times, says Fabrizio Bona, commercial director of Italo.
