Be it dark, milk or white, the chocolate it is a seasonless pleasure that satisfies the tastes of Italians from north to south. This is what emerges from a study investigating the relationship of Italians with desserts conducted in February 2022 by Bva Doxa on behalf of Just Eatinvolving a representative sample of a thousand people. Appreciated for its greedy (93%), gratifying (91%) and practical (88%) character, it is preferred, first of all, in the dark variant (34%), appreciated above all by those belonging to the 55-64 age group residing in Central Italy. Followed by milk (33%), the prerogative of 18-34 year olds residing in the North-East, which precedes extra dark (20%) and white chocolate (12%).

At the level of mode of consumption, chocolate would be enjoyed mainly alone (49%) at home (78%), perhaps while watching TV (47%). In everyday life to recharge (42%), but also at work or, more generally, away from home (26%) and, finally, during the holidays (20%), in the company of partners or family members (40%).

Overall in Italy in 2022, over 25 thousand kilograms of chocolate-based products were delivered to homes by Just Eat, 10 thousand of which in the first half of the year, mainly during the weekend. In particular, the largest number of orders is collected Saturday while the annual peak was recorded in the month of January with almost 3 thousand kilograms. Finally, on a geographical level, among the most active cities we find Rome (4.7 thousand kilograms), Bologna (3.2 thousand) and Naples (3 thousand). Following: Genoa (1.2 thousand kg), Milan (910), Turin (830), Trieste (630), Pisa (526), Parma (374) and Florence (361).
