The Council of the Naples Chamber of Commerce has approved the 2023 Budget. The amendment to the Statute has also been ratified, pursuant to law 580 of 1993 which brings the number of members of the Assise from 33 to 25. During the session, two new directors also took office as required by the sentence of the Regional Administrative Court and the consequent communication from the Campania Region. The previous appointments were also cancelled, following a similar sentence.

During the board meeting, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Naples, Ciro Fiola, drew up a brief assessment of the activity carried out: In recent periods we have been forced to register attacks aimed at delegitimizing the role of the Chamber and the Presidency by the councilors minority. Issues that have also been extensively covered by the media with consequent damage to the image of the institution which those who promote it must take charge of. Considering that the employers’ associations should have the interest of companies as their guiding star and not the pursuit of instrumental controversy at any cost, what happened is unacceptable. Some have placed themselves on the Aventine Hill making wrong decisions and telling falsehoods. I would like to remind you – says Ciro Fiola – that we have inherited a Chamber of Commerce, where those who are now in the opposition were in government, in which it took up to eight months to dispose of the files. Today we are at 72 hours and in some cases even “on sight” so as to make us the first Chamber of Commerce in Italy for the issue of certifications. Fiola also recalled the establishment of “Impresa in un giorno”, linked to Unioncamere, which allows free consultancy to public bodies, to which 85% of the Municipalities of Naples and its province have adhered. In short, we have made great strides in an average time, which can be defined as short if we also consider the two-year period straddling the Covid pandemic. I would add that, for the first time in the history of the institution, we have returned the companies’ money to the companies. Tender tenders for over 150 million euros have been made, touching on all areas of interest: technological development, the reduction of interest rates on loans and mortgages, tourism promotion for seasonally adjusted periods or internationalisation. In 4 years, whoever leaves today slamming the door hasn’t written a line of proposal. During the board meetings – he recalls – in addition to a noisy and sterile guerrilla warfare, no contribution was made to support the life of businesses. And yet I want to launch an appeal – concludes Fiola – precisely in the interests of businesses: come with a programme, with concrete, feasible and, perhaps, even unpublished ideas. However, I would like the meeting to be public, even in the presence of the media, in order to be able to really evaluate the quality of the proposals, with the sole aim of giving companies the necessary support and contribution.
