CGIL, the Ukrainian surrender union

The secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, has called for a mobilization of his organization “for peace” for the 24th and 25th of this month. He had already done it two other times, in November and February of last year, actually without great results. He argues that “it is time for diplomacy”, but adds that “today being against war means affirming an economic and social model that goes in a different direction”. What escapes him, or which he does not want to accept, is that the space for negotiation opens up only if the Russian aggression against Ukraine stops, otherwise it is not a question of peace but of surrender and, as countless historical precedents teach, surrender to expansionist demands today means creating the conditions for new and worse aggressions and new and even more terrible conflicts in the near future.
