Leader of the CDU in Thuringia, Voigt worked for the party during the election campaign for the European elections, managing the work on social media

The Belgian police today carried out a search of the headquarters of the European People’s Party in Brussels. This was confirmed by the Ppe himself, after that Euractiv. com had anticipated the news. The search concerned the first and third floors of the headquarters of the first EU political party, in rue du Commerce; computers were allegedly confiscated. The action seems to be linked to the German MEP of the CDU Mario Voigt, 46, leader of the party in Thuringia, suspected of fraud at home. According to the first rumors, Voigt would have worked for the party during the electoral campaign for the European elections, managing the work on social media, and the investigation would concern a part of the contract, which he would have subcontracted to a German company. The EPP itself confirmed with a brief press release that representatives of the Belgian and German police authorities visited the party headquarters in Brussels. The visit was linked to an ongoing investigation in Thuringia, Germany. The Party – the note goes on – is collaborating in full transparency with the authorities involved, providing all the necessary information and documentation. As this is an ongoing legal investigation, the EPP will not provide further comments, the statement concluded.
