They became friends, albeit reluctantly. Roles and reality prompted them to collaborate, even to find some character harmony. It seems that Giorgia Meloni, in a break from the work of the recent Japanese G7, even confided in her a good-natured envy for her always dry line. And she, Ursula von der Leyen, immediately answered her that, however, she would indulge in extravagance for Italian food. "They ask you to be a magician", smiles the premier, anxious to have to get the president of the Commission out of the way, besieged by questions from mayors and journalists who ask to know, now, immediately, the exact figure that the Commission intends to allocate for the Romagna emergency. And in short, even yesterday, in the most ominous of circumstances, the meeting between Meloni and Von der Leyen renewed a relationship that was not taken for granted, at the debut of the Italian sovereign government. Here they are, Giorgia and Ursula: together on an Air Force helicopter as they fly over Bologna, Conselice, Ravenna, Forlì, Lugo: the scenario of devastation as far as the eye can see, the flooded Romagna.
