The lectio magistralis of the former number 1 of Inter awarded the seal of university in Urbino

Many fields of intervention, in business and in society, both to follow in the father’s footsteps and to obey that principle, learned in the family, that «if you have received so much, you have an even greater duty to take care of others, because no one be excluded”. But the real fun, “the most fascinating slice of life” was the overall fifteen years as president of Inter. In Urbino Massimo Moratti receives the university seal from the Carlo Bo University, introduced by the rector Giorgio Calcagnini and the pro-rector Viero Fusi. “Endowed with ingenious intuitions, open to the paths of technological innovation and attentive to the more properly human and ethical aspects – reads the motivation for the award – he was also able to realize his passion for sport, taking over the Milan International. Reaching a number of successes unequaled up to now, no less than sixteen trophies».

Moratti chooses the register of informality in his lectio magistralis entitled “A life for the economy, sport and society”. He recalls the fundamental milestones of a career as an entrepreneur, undertaken in the shadow of his father, a “brilliant man, capable of instilling in us the ability not only to seize opportunities, but to invent them”. However, the enthusiasm of the student audience, in some cases flagged in Nerazzurri colors, is unleashed when he talks about football. “Becoming president of Inter wasn’t an act of generosity at first,” he says Moratti. That was also a way of picking up on the legacy of his father who had been at the helm of the team in the 1960s. “In the end, however, I can say that I understood what it means to invest in football.” And the investment he dwells on is emotional, sentimental. «Every difficulty I encountered gave me back experience. Football has taught me to face life. To win and to lose. To go from heaven to hell suddenly. It taught me patience. Being president of Inter was a privilege, never a burden.”

The images of the protagonists of the “famous treble deserved by the fans” parade on the screen. But there is also time for a jab at his all-time (and many) rival: «I also learned war from football. With the Juventus. A war limited to sports, of course. Although…”. Applause and laughter.
