The centre-right, according to what is learned from parliamentary sources, has filed a suppressive amendment to the proposed law on the minimum wage in the Labor Committee of the Chamber. The deadline for tabling amendments expired at 12.

The proposal of the majority

According to what is learned from sources of the majority, despite the numerous hearings held in the commission – most of which were against a legal regulation of the minimum wage – the oppositions preferred to make such an important issue a propaganda totem in view of the summer, placing a wall on the proposal we made for a comprehensive discussion on bargaining, corporate welfare and poor work to be launched in September. The majority therefore felt compelled to proceed and give continuity to the measures that have already borne fruit, such as the cutting of the wedge and the dl Lavoro.

Increases for 3.6 million employment relationships

The bill put forward by the opposition parties, excluding Italia Viva, consists in guaranteeing all employees but also those with a collaboration contract a minimum hourly wage of 9 euros grossthus implementing article 36 of the Constitution which prescribes to guarantee the worker a wage sufficient to ensure a free and dignified existence for the family. A measure which, according to the calculations presented by Istat, would mean increases for 3.6 million employment relationships (about three million workers) with an average increase of 804 euros per relationship and a growth in the wage bill of almost 2.9 billion.
