Amplifon expands and will hire 1500 hearing care professionals worldwide – Corriere.it

There are around 1,500 hearing care professionals around the world, of which around 150 in Italy, that Amplifon expects to add to its workforce. To become an audiologist (or hearing care technician), the professional who works in the specialized centers of operators of hearing care services and solutions such as Amplifon, a three-year degree is required in Italy. Around 300 places are available in our country every year, divided by 13 universities (Turin, Milan, Padua and Treviso, Parma, Pisa, Siena, Rome Tor Vergata and La Sapienza, Bari, Naples, Palermo, Messina and Catania), for enroll in the three-year degree course in hearing aid techniques.

The hearing aid profession is increasingly in demand

The audiologist deals with the prevention and treatment of people’s hearing. To this end, it verifies their hearing health by carrying out the necessary tests and, in the event of proven hypoacusia (i.e. reduction in hearing level), chooses the best acoustic solution according to their needs. It is a profession undergoing profound evolution also in consideration of the increase in the use of new technologies (Amplifon, for example, has developed a hearing test via iPad and has created an app to encourage dialogue even remotely between audiologists and patient). The hearing care professional is a profession for which there is growing demand in the world, in consideration of the increase in the adoption rates of hearing devices (in Italy 35.2% of people with hearing loss according to EuroTrak 2022 data) and demographic trends ( according to the World Health Organization, around 1.5 billion people in the world today have hearing loss problems, a number expected to rise to 2.5 billion by 2050), but which is relatively poorly understood. According to Almalaurea, 80% of graduates in hearing aid techniques in Italy find a job within a year of graduation.

The Amplifon Graduate Program with scholarships of 500 euros

To promote awareness of this profession, Amplifon launched the “A degree with Amplifon” project in 2022, which makes the same number of scholarships available each year to ten deserving students to cover tuition costs plus a contribution of 500 euros per month throughout the three-year period. The initiative is part of Amplifon’s broader approach devoted not only to raising awareness among the new generations of hearing prevention but also to the training and growth of talent in general. In fact, to ensure increasingly ambitious development opportunities, in 2021 the Group had already launched the Amplifon Records Graduate Program: an 18-month course, dedicated to recent graduates, with strong international exposure and with the possibility of working on cross- functional. To become an audiologist in our country, you need a three-year degree.

Application form by June 30th

Amplifon, led by the managing director Enrico Vita, is the world’s leading operator in the hearing care services and solutions sector with 18,600 employees and collaborators and 9,200 specialized centers in 25 countries around the world. In Italy the company has 700 specialized centers and 2,300 Amplipoints (corners in pharmacies or optical stores) and more than 2,200 employees and collaborators. “Over the years, Amplifon Italia has trained hundreds of young people with the WOW TRAINING program, a training experience to be carried out in one of the 700 Amplifon centers throughout the country and which hosts, on average, 150 trainees every year” – declares Bernardino Pedone, hr director of Amplifon Italia – “Our commitment is further confirmed and is also aimed at the youngest, supporting them in job orientation, university training and professional integration”. The application to participate in the program “A degree with Amplifon”, accompanied by a motivational letter, must be submitted by 30 June 2023. Following the entrance test, in September 2023, those who pass the test will have a motivational interview with the Amplifon Italia HR team. At the end of the selection, Amplifon will assign the scholarships to the most deserving students.
