“More work for women”. So yesterday morning Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni inaugurated the 2023 edition of the Milan Furniture Fair. «This is a problem of stability of the economic and social system that is faced in different ways – she then continued. What the government works on is not solving it with migrants but with that large untapped reserve that is women’s work”. And ready comes the response of Antonella Veltri, president of DiRe – Women on the Net against violence, an organization that brings together 82 voluntary and social promotion associations with almost 3,000 activists. «Once again the declarations of the president Meloni contradict reality – declares Veltri -. Once again women are exploited to take away the rights of those fleeing violence and war situations”.

“This government” – continues Veltri, who in recent weeks had denounced the lack of funds for anti-violence centers – often seeks solutions to the country’s problems, this time women’s work, by rejecting those seeking refuge in our country. Female unemployment does not depend on this: for example, it is known that only 6 out of 100 women find work after maternity leave. The clear feeling is that the intent is to divide the country, without tackling the problems with realism and planning: does female employment increase if we don’t welcome people who are forced to leave their country? What job does Meloni think about for women?».
