«The fight against evil will be there for the next centuries. In Italy the struggle between good and evil very often in some regions is that between the state and organized crime. This becomes powerful, sometimes it wins and sometimes it loses, it grows in the economic fabric and in times of crisis it has more chances to grow and not when the economy is better». Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said this during the meeting in Palermo in the barracks at the headquarters of the Sicily Carabinieri Legion Command to congratulate the soldiers of the Arma for the capture of the mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro.

The mafia has had some very strong blows and the state many successes. We are in a barracks called “Dalla Chiesa”, we think of the general of the carabinieri, of Falcone and Borsellino, and we retrace the years that have passed. We have phases of success and crisis of the mafia due to the blows inflicted by the state. Shifting the focus to other warm fronts, Crosetto also addressed the issue of military aid to Ukraine and the future decree being studied by the government: «For now, together with the countries with which we have decided to help Ukraine, we are evaluating what is needed more, not just weapons but aid from all type to overcome the winter period and the crises due to the Russian attacks, therefore supplies of generators and tents, we are also preparing civil things, concrete help from many points of view that will be formalized in the coming weeks”, he explained, reiterating how it is not no decree has yet been written and that it will be discussed in a few weeks.
