Will Berlusconi, what changes for Fininvest and family? Confalonieri: "No repercussions" - Corriere.it

No, I would rule out any repercussions in the family and on the structure of Fininvest’s subsidiaries or investee companies. The historical associate of Silvio Berlusconi, as well as president of Mfe-Mediaset, Fedele Confalonieri, says he does not believe that reading the Knight’s will can hide a small earthquake for the companies inherited by Berlusconi’s five children. And so, with this single sentence Confalonieri dismissed the reporters on the sidelines of the Assolombarda meeting of 3 July. To then add: Anyway, I’m not talking about that.

Next week the reading of the will

But will it really be as Confalonieri envisages? Will Italy’s most eagerly awaited testament not hold any surprises? However, the answer should not be long in coming (here all the hypotheses). In fact, the opening of Cavalieri’s last will is imminent, given that last Thursday’s Fininvest assembly approved the first post-mortem balance sheet, while next Tuesday there will be the presentation of the new Mediaset schedules. In short, having overcome these two crucial moments for the group (also for advertising sales: last year there was a decrease in cash flow, but still positive for over 360 million euros), nothing should delay the reading of the deposited will in the office of the notary Attilio Roveda.

Who will the shares go to?

As regards the share part, Silvio Berlusconi held 62% of the Fininvest shares, divided into four holding companies. The first-born children, Marina and Pier Silvio, instead hold 7.65% each, while 21.4% is in the hands of the other three children fathered by Veronica Lario. If 62% of Silvio were divided equally between the 5 children, the youngest Barbara, Eleonora and Pier Luigi would end up with the absolute majority. In this case, one can imagine that Berlusconi has identified a series of rules for the management of companies and to prevent the two family “fronts” from entering into conflict.

Non-financial inheritance

Then, there’s everything else. In fact, the greatest uncertainties seem to exist regarding bequests regarding non-financial assets. In this case, during the hospitalizations at San Raffaele, Berlusconi may have made some changes to his will precisely as regards the villas, with the more or less precious paintings that Silvio loved to buy at TV auctions; the helicopter, the yachts and the Manzoni theatre, where the former prime minister met Veronica Laria in the 1980s. According to rumors, his current partner, Marta Fascina, should receive a legacy of around 100 million euros and the use of the famous Arcore villa. Finally, there is the Monza football club, which seems ready to be liquidated to Vaghelis Marinakis, the Greek entrepreneur close to the conservative Greek premier Mitsotakis and owner of the Athenian team Olympiacos. Talks have already taken place, followed by other approaches from many US investment funds. Perhaps also for this reason, CEO Adriano Galliani seems to be in pole position for the seat in the Senate in Monza, which became vacant after Berlusconi’s death.
