Who was
Prisco died on April 29, 2021. He was in charge of the category for Nidil Cgil. In 2020 he had brought Deliveroo to Court, for the use of the Frank algorithm: which marginalized workers who, for personal reasons related to rights such as sickness and the strike, do not continuously make themselves available for work. The sentence was an epochal turning point in the trade union rights of the category. On 31 December 2020, for the first time in Europe, a Court, that of Bologna, established, in fact, that the algorithm is blind and therefore indifferent to the needs of cyclofactories, who are not machines, but workers with rights. Antonio Prisco was 37 years old and in turn he was a rider. Federico II, in 2022, also announced a competition for the Degree Prize in Memory of Antonio Prisco.
Death and mourning
His death was sudden, but his memory is still alive on social media. At the time, the news was kept confidential for a few hours. Every close friend on receiving the news looked around waiting for Antonio to come out of a corner shouting some of the insults he reserved only for friends and those he loved. At the request of the family, he expected to make the news public to avoid the hospitalized mother from learning about it from social media or the press. Outside his home, in the hours immediately following his death, many people took turns who were linked to him in different phases and contexts of life, wrote one of his closest friends. He brought us together. finished in his style. Blatant, irreverent, irritating, over the top. Antonio has always been a generous person like few others. He has spent his life fighting against an exclusive society that is far from giving everyone the same chance. He has always fought for everyone, believing in it with that recognizable trace of truth typical of those who experience hardship on their own skin. Since we did it together during the university years that brought us together, until a few hours before his last night in which he dedicated his time to the battle for the rights of the riders of which he was among the first promoters in Naples and in Italy. One of the works that symbolizes the precariousness and fragility of our time. Precariousness that wears out, to the point of killing, especially the most fragile. Rest in peace. You will remain in our memory and in our hearts.
