Vodafone, union agreement to manage the thousand redundancies

On the 1,003 potential redundancies of Vodafone Italia there is an agreement with the telecommunications unions. The hypothesis of an agreement that will have to be examined by the assemblies uses all the tools that it was possible to imagine using, to minimize the social impact of the company decision: from the isopenion, to the retraining of workers with the female option.

The company explains that the agreement reached has “the objective of implementing the plan for profound transformation and modernization of the company’s operating model, of continuing to invest and compete in a sustainable way, in order to strengthen the relationship with customers”.

Going into the merits, over the next 2 years Vodafone will involve 300 people in professional retraining courses to cover the roles necessary for the transformation process and for the internalisation of activities currently outsourced.

This will be supported by all the tools available for exits. For voluntary mobility, incentives defined on the basis of age, length of service and timescale for joining have been envisaged to accompany relocation into the labor market, including the extension of company healthcare assistance (Fsio) for 24 months. The exits will instead be made through the isopensione of up to five years, as well as early retirement through the ‘woman option’ for all employees in possession of the requisites envisaged by the legislation.

The solidarity contract will then be used with a monthly hourly reduction of 25% for the call center and 5% for the other functions within the agreed corporate perimeter. Employees affected by the 25% reduction in working hours will also be involved in training courses on topics such as Customer Centricity, Data Analytics and collaboration tools. The solidarity contract will have a duration of 12 months until 30 June 2024, which can be extended for a further 6 months by agreement with the trade union organisations.
