Visco’s suggestions and criticisms of the Meloni government

At the end of his last final considerations, Ignatius Visco he specifies, quoting the first governor of the central bank Bonaldo Stringherthat the judgments and evaluations of the Bank of Italy have “the exclusive intent, in common, not in conflict, with the state, ‘to improve the conditions of national activity and improve its fortunes’”. It is with this spirit, claimed in the 12 years of mandate, that the suggestions and criticisms of government policy can be read against the light. In the governor’s speech there is substantial approval of two basic choices of the government led by Giorgia Meloni: support for Ukraine and prudent fiscal policy. But also various criticisms, or reasons for friction, on various economic policy choices.
