Transport at risk on Friday 17 February. The USB trade union organization has proclaimed a 24-hour national strike which could cause slowdowns and inconvenience to citizens in various Italian cities from Milan to Naples. This is the first strike in the sector for 2023 and was called to claim the centrality of public transport and the role of the autorailway drivers, reads the USB note.

Milan: the guaranteed bands

Metro, bus and tram are at risk in Milan with ATM lines affected from 8.45 to 15.00 and from 18.00 at the end of service. Some inconveniences could also occur on the Como-Brunate funicular: the staff could join the strike from 8.30 to 16.30 and from 19.30 at the end of the service. Trenord employees could also join the protest. The trains circulating exclusively on the Ferrovienord network will be affected (Milan Cadorna – Canzo/Asso, Como Lago, Novara Nord, Varese/Laveno Nord, the Brescia/Iseo – Edolo line, the suburban lines S2, S3 and S4). Trains circulating solely on the RFI network are not involved.
A note reads: There may be repercussions on mixed management lines: S1 Saronno – Milan Passante – Lodi; S9 Saronno – Seregno – Milan – Albairate; S13 Milano Bovisa – Pavia. The Malpensa Express airport connections “Milan Cadorna/Milan Central/Milan Porta Garibaldi - Malpensa Airport” and “S50 Malpensa Airport - Bellinzona” are also involved. In the event of train cancellations, non-stop buses will be set up for airport connections only between: Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport (from Milan Cadorna they will leave from via Paleocapa 1); Busto Arsizio Fs and Malpensa Airport, for the S50 line. During the guaranteed time slots, trains departing from the station of origin between 06.00 and 09.00 will travel and arrive at the end of the journey; in the afternoon, however, between 18.00 and 21.00.

Rome, Bologna and Naples

In Rome, the 24-hour strike proclaimed by Usb involves Atac and Roma Tpl. A garrison is foreseen under the Department of Transport of Rome Capital to support the direct payment of salaries to the employees of Rome Tpl. Arms crossed from 8.30 to 17.00 and from 20.00 at the end of the shift. The new Metromare and the Rome-Viterbo line are also at risk. Races guaranteed in the two peak bands, until 8.30 and from 17 to 20. In Bologna strike the staff of TPer, with the guaranteed bands from 8.30 to 16.30 and from 19.30 at the end of the service.

In Naples, Anm employees will cross arms for 24 hours, putting Line 1, the funiculars and buses at risk. For trams, buses, trolleybuses, the service is guaranteed from 5:30 to 8:30 and from 17:00 to 20:00. The last departures - explains the company - are made 30 minutes before the start of the strike and resume about 30 minutes after the end of the strike. For Line 1: first morning run from Piscinola at 06:36 and from Garibaldi at 07:16. The website reads: In case of membership, last morning ride from Piscinola at 09:12 and from Garibaldi at 09:16. The service resumes with the first afternoon run from Piscinola at 5.12pm and from Garibaldi at 5.52pm. The last guaranteed evening ride from Piscinola at 19:36 and from Garibaldi at 19:40. Possible adhesion also for Eav railway staff: the strike could last 4 hours, from 9 to 13.
