From expensive bills to expensive museums

Due to the high energy cost, the ticket to the Uffizi Museum in Florence goes from 20 to 25 euros in high season: the price increases from 1 March. Comparison with other major international museums
The expensive energy also weighs on culture. On December 28, the Ministry of Culture signed a decree to allocate 40 million euros to theatres, cinemas, concert halls, museums and cultural institutes and places that have suffered from higher bills due to the energy crisis. But, in some cases, not even this was enough to avoid an increase in the ticket for the Uffizi in Florence, the most visited museum in Italy with an average of 2 million visitors a year. From 1 March 2023, in fact, the fee to visit the Gallery of Statues and paintings will rise from the current 20 to 25 euros, with a 25% increase. The decision was taken unanimously by the board of directors “to cope with the increase in costs in the energy and construction sector”. The increase of 5 euros will only concern the single entry ticket in the high season, which runs from March 1st to November 30th and is also the one most purchased by foreign tourists. It will be offset by a discount for early-bird visitors: anyone who enters the museum between 8.15 and 8.55 will pay 19 euros.
