The meeting took place in Bangalore, India, where the G20 of finance ministers and central bank governors is underway. Minister Giorgetti, in his conversation with his Argentine colleague, addressed the issues of the energy crisis, but also the consequences of the war in Ukraine, which broke out exactly one year ago. In the bilateral meeting there was also space to discuss other topical topics, such as the increase in prices and inflation.

Giorgetti and Massa then discussed the strategy for being independent from Russian gas, and in this sense the Italian Economy Minister confirmed the government’s willingness to make the two new regasification terminals operational in Italy as early as mid-2023. those of Ravenna and Piombino which have been discussed in recent months. At the moment Italy has three regasification plants already active: in Panigaglia (La Spezia) in Liguria, off Livorno in Tuscany and in Veneto off the coast of Porto Viro (Rovigo)
