The Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, has appointed Gianpaolo Davide Rossetti and Carmelo Cosentino as new extraordinary commissioners of Piaggio Aeroindustries and Piaggio Aviation (Piaggio Aerospace group), to supplement the current commissioner, Vincenzo Nicastro.

The appointment, they explain to Mimit, is part of the commissioning phase of the Ligurian aerospace companies, based in Villanova di Albenga (Savona), under extraordinary administration since December 2018, in view of the sale of the business complexes.

Two unsuccessful bids

Nicastro was the protagonist of the launch, in recent years, of two calls for tenders for the sale of the company, which were not successful; but he kept up the productivity of the group. Rossetti, who will act as coordinator of the renewed commissioner body, is a chartered accountant and statutory auditor; Cosentino is president emeritus of the Lombardia Aerospace Cluster.

According to Christian Venzano, secretary general of Fim-Cisl Liguria, this is «yet another decision by the Government not communicated to the union. We think that the Government, in this way, can finally be more “protagonist” on the Piaggio Aerospace dossier. However, we expect a meeting at the ministry ».

The union needs a long-term plan

For Fim, «a medium-long term industrial plan is needed which provides for investments in consolidated products and precise choices both on the completion of projects started in past years such as the Mpa patrol boat and the drone which has reached 95% of completion, and on investments from carry out in the motor sector with the search for new activities”.
