Trial for sexual violence against Ciro Grillo, the court rejects the hypothesis of starting over – Corriere.it

We proceed as if nothing had happened. The court of Tempio Pausania has decided to reject the hypothesis of redoing part or all of the process of the so-called Grillo case. The judges had to determine whether or not to accept the request to renew the trial against Ciro Grillo and his three Genoese friends. Renewal means doing all or part of the trial over again (as the defendants’ lawyers asked): an eventuality that arose because one of the side judges obtained the transfer to Bari. The vice-president of the court, Caterina Interlandi, he let it be known that he had asked the CSM for the application of the transferred judge, Nicola Bonante, and if the CSM granted it, the judge would return to Tempio for each hearing until the end of the trial which could then continue as if nothing had happened. In the event of non-application, however, according to some lawyers of the four defendants, the right to defense would be harmed and this is why the renewal of the trial had been requested. On which, however, the court decided without waiting for the response of the CSM.

The president of the college who is celebrating the trial, Marco Contu, signed an order to motivate his decision to proceed anyway and wanted to continue the hearing leaving (as expected) that the computer consultants of defendants and injured parties deposited the list of material to be examined in the courtroom . Next hearing: September 22 when Roberta, one of the two girls accusing Ciro and his friends, will be heard. The Grillo case, we recall, stems from the complaint of Silvia, a nineteen year old who in 2019 accused Ciro Grillo, the son of Beppe founder and guarantor of the Cinquestelle, of sexual abuse suffered in his holiday villa in Sardinia. She was with her friend Roberta and Ciro wasn’t alone either. With him his Genoese friends Edoardo Capitta, Vittorio Lauria and Francesco Corsiglia. All charged with gang rape. Roberta also signed a complaint against the four boys. In her case, her violence would have consisted of this: while she was sleeping on the sofa, they took sexual photographs next to her.
