Tour de France, today the Passy-Combloux time trial: the route of the 16th stage and where to see it on TV

PASSY – The sixteenth could be the watershed stage of the Tour de France 2023. The short time trial (22.4 km), the only one of the three weeks, is actually a sort of uphill time trial that is very tough in the last 6 km. The challenge between Vingegaard and Pogacar therefore becomes remote: the result of the test will inevitably condition the continuation of the race and the subsequent race tactics.

After departure from Passy, the runners will cover just under three flat kilometers before encountering the first difficulty, the Côte de Soudans, a 1300m climb at 8.5%. A short descent and a slightly flat stretch will then lead to the time measurement of Passy Chef-Lieu, after 7.1 km. Then go down to Sallanches, where 5 flat km begin up to Domancy, where you will pass through the second intermediate stage and where the final climb begins. The first 2500 will be those of Côte de Domancy, which will offer an average gradient of 9.4%. After the climb, you enter the last 3.8 kilometers on a slight slope with gradients of around 5%, which will end at the finish line in Combloux. Very tough test, for which many teams have also foreseen the change of bike at the foot of the final climb. The challenge for the yellow jersey will be very uncertain.
