ROANNE – On the eve of the mountains, the Tour de France has a very complicated stage from Roanne to Belleville-en-Beaujoais (168.8 km), five mountain grands prix and more than 3,000 meters of elevation gain. A breakaway day, but the men in the standings will have to mark themselves very carefully: in the event of a crisis, they risk losing a lot.

The stage will start from Roanne. The first gpm of the day arrives after only 20.5 km: it takes place on the la Côte de Thizy-les-Bourgs (4.3 km at 5.6%) and immediately after there is the Col des Écorbans (2.1km at 6.9%). After a phase of substantial calm, the climb returns to -70, where the runners will have to face the Col de Casse Froide (5.2km at 6.1%), the Col de la Croix Montmain (5.5km at 6.1%) and the Col de la Croix Rosier (5.3km at 7.6%). In the midst of each of these rather treacherous climbs and descents. On the last gpm, the bonus points from the climb (8”, 5” and 2”), useful for the men in the classification in the event that a breakaway is not yet out. From the brow of the last gpm there will be 28.4 km to the finish line in Belleville-en-Beaujolais, but they will not be flat, but scattered with bumps, descents and full of bends. Difficult to control and certainly spectacular stage in a beautiful landscape, among the Beaujolais vineyards.
