Chinese stock markets grow with aid to the real estate sector

Asian stock exchanges are mixed, with Chinese stocks rising on the back of the announcement of the extension of measures to support the real estate sector. In Shanghai, the composite index rose by 0.34% to 3,214.46 points. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index gains 1.23% to 18,707 points. The Kospi index also rose, rising by 1.26% to 2,552.47 points in Seoul. The Tokyo Nikkei index went against the trend which, after a positive start, is now down 0.29% to 32,095 points.

Markets await tomorrow's US inflation data to see if price pressures continue to ease, which could provide clues about the interest rate outlook. Investors yesterday digested comments from several Federal Reserve officials who said that while more rate hikes are needed to reduce inflation, the end of the central bank's current monetary policy-tightening cycle is nearing.
