Landfills pollute more than waste-to-energy plants, but those who pretend to be environmentalists don’t care. Environmentalism in Italy is the victim of the reckless and irresponsible use of vocabulary by those who say they are fighting for the environment

With excellent synthesis skills, in 2000 the academic and writer Luigi Meneghello said that “one of the problems of environmentalism in Italy was the environmentalists”. Meneghello argued that there was a split between those who cared about the environment and those who were asking for votes by supporting this. The same distance that existed, exists, between the environmentalist struggle and its effectiveness.
