No one should move the current set-up by a single millimetre. Among the closest collaborators of Giorgia Meloniin the party as in the government, and obviously also in the staff who assist the Prime Minister at Palazzo Chigi, this is the first concept that emerges.

Giorgia Meloni can put in her work by working on at least two fronts: the government agenda and parliamentary work. In fact, the prime minister’s conviction that stability not only has no alternatives but is strengthened with the continuity of the executive’s action, without losing sight of the objectives that have made it possible to build a common program for the majority forces, including the reform institutional that the premier wants to incardinate in Parliament before the end of July.

It is no coincidence that yesterday the Minister of Relations with Parliament tightened the bolts of the House and Senate action, inviting all deputies and senators to pay close attention in the coming weeks. Stability is achieved by making Parliament work and ensuring that it plays its role flawlessly.

Obviously the horizon of Giorgia Meloni he may have at least two steps in the coming months: the first will be just after the summer, his collaborators indicate in September or October what will be a first decisive test for understanding the future of the party founded by Berlusconi. Early autumn polls will tell how things are goingas it holds, an 8% party without its deus ex machina.

Then there will be the important passage of the Congress of the blues, but the real moment of truth can only be the June vote of the Europeans: Forza Italia will have to exceed 4% to stay alive, to still have representation in the parliamentary halls of Strasbourg and Brussels. And if he succeeds, then we can talk about a federation with FdI, a structured allianceof strengthened cooperation, which basically would make the center-right return to Silvio Berlusconi’s first political intuition, that of a common political House, despite the differences.

To date there are too many questions, but of federation (or a federal pact) is already being discussed, at least to have a medium-term objective. And at the same time it is excluded, at Palazzo Chigi, that the Brothers of Italy can accept or promote shirt changes. Someone in the government openly admits it: wanting there would be a queue to join Giorgia Meloni’s partybut it would be a political mistake that is not convenient for anyone and which would undermine the stability which is currently also guaranteed by the personal strength of the Prime Minister.

At Palazzo Chigi yesterday they followed and somehow dissected the first press conference of Forza Italia’s general staff without Berlusconi: they appreciated the unity of the party, at least that shared in public, and Marina Berlusconi’s explicit support for continuity. There are premises for nothing to move, at least until next autumn.
