The deputy of the Third Pole: a real revolution, we will play our chips in the Europeans

Maria Elena Boschi, celebrate because a prairie opens up with Schlein?

No celebration. We left the Democratic Party four years ago but we have a lot of respect for that community. And we have a human relationship with many of the leaders of that party, even if the political paths have divided. So I’m sorry for Stefano (Bonaccini ed.), whom I love and who is a loyal person and I’ve heard. I’m happy for Elly, because she was able to surprise a very difficult challenge as I wrote to her. But I celebrate when we win, not when others lose.

Will relations in the opposition change?

I would say yes. In my opinion a real revolution. Schlein won on a very clear line and knowing it, he didn’t step back. Now the very simple question: the Five Stars and the Democratic Party will compete hard but in some ways even interesting to understand who represents the real left. It will give energy to those who believe in the radical left but will also leave room for reformists who do not want to say no to nuclear power, jobs act or industry 4.0. a nice change: the new Democratic Party looks more to the left, completely abandoning the reformist policies of our period and embracing the competition with Conte. And it is clear that the Renzians without Renzi are irrelevant, not only in the candidacies, but also in the congresses given the result. So for us the season that opens is culturally stimulating, politically fascinating.

How do you explain the fact that many continue to attack Renzi?

I can’t explain it except with the category of personal hatred. Because with the category of politics, Renzi’s Pd led to the people of Schlein’s Pd voting three times. He governed 17 Regions out of 20, six thousand Municipalities, made reforms such as the third sector and civil rights, increased the wages of workers and professors. And there were tenders for the suburbs, for anti-violence centers, the increase in cultural funds, money for social welfare. If this means not being reformists, well, then it means they prefer the Meloni-Valditara government. And as they say in these cases, de gustibus non disputandum est.

Can the opposition have a common line?

Let’s see how the Schlein-Conte ticket, because I believe Elly will empty the world of people’s advocates, will try to involve us in Parliament. I’m struggling to understand on what topics given the fluctuating line they have on Ukraine, guarantees, subsidies and basic income. But of course we never close the door to discussing the merits with anyone, not even with our opposition colleagues, even if they are so far away.

Will the reformists find themselves uncomfortable now in the Democratic Party?

It seems obvious to me. The problem is not individual personal destiny but the political line, if you are a reformist on justice, economic development, Ukraine, work.

Will you do shopping campaign?

No. The transfer campaign is done by the football teams. We will do what we have always done, we will do politics. Time plays with our shirt. When the contradictions of the Democratic Party explode at the European elections and the government is in a crisis of consensus, we will play our part chips.

Do you welcome the fact that the new dem leader is a woman?

Certain! With Renzi’s Pd we have led for the first time to women to have 50% in the secretariat, 50% in government, the first female defense minister, the first female undersecretary to the presidency. Elly went the last mile. I almost don’t share her ideas at all but she was good, I acknowledge it with affection and esteem.

In Italy there are starting to be female leaders: why not in the Third Pole? Maybe she…

For me, the leader of the Third Pole is already Ed Calenda. Frankly, I see no reason to open this discussion now.
