The urgency of a single party for the Third Pole

Because we need a programmatic, innovative and breaking momentum, a clear, unambiguous and recognized leadership, and a continuous, structural contribution of skills and professionalism external to Renzi’s and Calenda’s political project. A letter

To the director – Dear Carlo Calenda, dear Matteo Renzi. A month has passed since the birth of the Meloni government, and the start was not a memorable one: many concessions to the audiences to which they belong, botched and confused first measures, and a daily internal conflict in the majority – between Meloni and Salvini – which does not authorize hoping that things will get better in the future. But the oppositions, as is evident, are not in better health.

The Five Stars irresponsibly fan the flames of all the Nos, receiving in return continuous offers of collaboration from the Democratic Party: an enviable positional income which certainly does not build prospects for the future. The Democratic Party is in the throes of its inscrutable pre-congress convulsions, torn between the animal spirits of the post-communist component and the perennial Dorothy vocation of the post-Demo-Christian currents. While your parties are currently engaged in internal appointments, which we hope will not become just the occasion for the birth of other apparatuses and new small nomenklature.

In the aspirations of many, the liberal-democratic and reformist project of the Third Pole can only mature through an incessant programmatic, innovative and breaking momentum, with a clear, unambiguous and recognized leadership, and a continuous, structural contribution of external skills and professionalism. This does not mean giving up the ambition to build a solid party structure. But let the party be one, and be done as soon as possible, making the most of new resources in the territories and promoting cohesive and unitary leadership groups from below. This is what we ask of you. There is no time to lose. Not because the alternative to the current state of affairs is just around the corner. On the contrary, it is desirable that the country enjoys a phase of stability that allows the government chosen by the voters to deal with the many emergencies we face. But, at the same time, the Italians must know right away that the construction site of a credible and mature government alternative is being built. This is your task. Don’t disappoint us. And hurry up!
