The Trio of Wonders strikes again. As well as at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, also at the Athletics World Championships in Paris Italy writes history. Amber Sabatini — who takes gold with the world record — Martina Caironi (silver) and Monica Counterfact (bronze), they took all the medals in the 100 meters T63. Their photo, two summers ago, went around the world.

Great joy from the blue trio once they cross the finish line: “We didn’t expect it, we are all very happy. I myself didn’t want to believe it”, the words of Sabatini, the first Paralympic athlete to run the 100m in less than 14 seconds. On the podium, bronze as in Tokyo, Contrafatto: “We are the three marvels of Italian Paralympic athletics, and it doesn’t matter that I finished third. In the end, I’m always the least considered but I’m fine with it ”, she jokes. Then Caironi thanks his coach: “I hope you continue to follow me again this year, we need to reach even higher levels”.

The president of the Italian Paralympic Committee was also delighted, Luca Pancalli: “Another extraordinary feat of the trio of wonders, another incredible emotion! These three incredible athletes – he said – are writing memorable pages of Italian sport, not just the Paralympic. For this they deserve a huge round of applause from all over the country.”
