The differentiated autonomy of the regions, through the transfer of administrative functions from state offices, was foreseen by the constitutional reform of 2001, carried out by the centre-left, but was later invoked above all by the centre-right. Even within it, however, there are differences of views. While various Northern League representatives are asking for differentiated autonomy to be implemented as soon as possible, the prime minister reiterated that Italy must be united, with no gaps between territories and between citizens.
