«It won’t be the first April 25 that I celebrate, I went to the Minister of Defense to pay homage to the monument of the partisans, I brought a bunch of flowers to all the partisans, even the red ones who, as you know, didn’t want a free and democratic Italy but wanted a communist Italy. Anyone who dies for an idea and for an ideal choice can never be the object of aversion». The president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, in the podcast of Free Daily, announces with these words that he will be at the celebrations on April 25th. During the interview, La Russa also accepted a bust of Lenin as a gift: “I put it at home, I have many – he explains referring also to that of Mussolini that continues to raise so many controversies -, I also put this”.

The second office of the State, always pressed on the Liberation, also touched the node of Via Rasella: «It was a far from noble page of the Resistance: those killed were a musical band of semi-retired and non-Nazis from the SS, knowing the risk of retaliation against Roman citizens, anti-fascists and others, is very good», replies La Russa responding to the criticisms of Giorgia Meloni. In recent days, for the anniversary of the Fosse ardeatine, the premier had said:
«Seventy-nine years ago 335 Italians were barbarously murdered by the Nazi occupation troops in retaliation for the partisan attack in Via Rasella (…) 335 innocent Italians massacred just because they were Italians». And on that “just because Italians” the attacks of the Pd, the left and the M5S were triggered. «A specious attack – comments La Russa in defense of the leader of his party (FdI) -. Everyone knows that the Nazis murdered prisoners, including politicians, Jews, anti-fascists and people rounded up at random, certainly not people who collaborated with them».

The president of the Senate, who began his political militancy very early together with the young people of the MSI, also recalls the hard clashes with the left: «I only gave them once: two slaps to a boy who called me a fascist and kicked me out from the university to kicks. I was kicked away, then I met this guy again, I slapped him twice. I can swear that during my political militancy it was the only time I used my hands. Instead, I took them once, my fiancée, then wife, saved me from a wrench blow on the head. They were 2,000, we were 100. She threw a stone and then they attacked us ». And then: “We saved ourselves because a carabiniere fired into the air, then he also got into trouble, the Digos instead of stopping those who attacked us stopped him”.

There is also a comment on the crackdown that the minister for the Roccella family is preparing against surrogacy: «They can’t say that opposing surrogacy is a right-wing thing, left-wing people, feminist movements, gay friends say it’s a disgrace and resembles racism – comments La Russa -. They talk about children as if it were the cover of the sofa at home, what fabric do you want? same with the son, who knows if you can have one green eye and one black?».

However, La Russa makes an opening: «Rather than in the orphanage a child to a gay couple, I have no difficulty imagining it, better than without parents. However, the wrong thing is to say that it is the same thing for a child to have two dads or two moms and a mom and a dad. It’s not true that it’s the same thing.”
