«Recall the Ventennio». «Remember the Fratelli d’Italia logo». But there are those who say it looks more like a ghost or is suitable for a commercial brand
The new logo of the Ministry of Education is causing irony and controversy on social media. The logo shows the initials Mim (ministry of education and merit) in white characters on a blue background and the dot that stands out over the “I” bears the colors of the Italian flag. There are those who point out that the two m’s in large letters evoke the graphics of the Ventennio and there are those who instead of the attention on the tricolor placed above the I, see a reference to the flame of the MSI, also present in the Fratelli logo of Italy. “If the Ministry of Education and Merit had chosen the logo with a graphics competition between students, it would certainly have been better,” Giuseppina points out, and hers is one of the more calm comments. Criticisms also come from the art historian and rector Tomaso Montanari: «Two beautiful fasces put the poor I of education in the middle, appropriately nationalized by the tricolor. Welcome to 1930 … », he writes. “The Ministry of Education and Merit presents its new logo: a fasces that looks like an M. And while Lollobrigida is Minister of Merit, talk of races, the shame of respectable Italian citizens is perceived throughout the Terraqueous globe”, he writes on twitter another user. Michele, on the other hand, invents a conversation between friends to make fun of the new logo: «We can say everything except that the Ministry of Education doesn’t know how to value merit. What merit? That of the graphic designers who designed this truly awful logo». «But was the new logo of the Ministry of Education and Merit designed by a nostalgic bundle who ran out of pencil with an outstretched arm or by a Napoli fan who wanted to celebrate the Scudetto? Or from a drunk?” So sums up his thoughts on the matter by the ecologist Francesco Ferrante. Finally, for many, the new logo looks like a ghost, even to the point of inconveniencing a quote from Carl Marx. But there are those who see in the new MIM symbol an excellent starting point for a commercial brand.
