Berlin. New sentence of the Federal Constitutional Court, this time on the European Stability Mechanism (MES) or rather on its reform, defined by an agreement between the states of 21 January 2021. And which in Germany had already been approved by the Bundestag and the Bundesrat in June 2021. But thanks to an emergency constitutional appeal presented by the FDP (liberal) MPs, federal president Frank-Walter Steinmeier has not yet signed the law, announcing that he would await the decision of the Karlsruhe court. In recent days the Sheet he had anticipated that the decision was expected shortly. However, this is a story that has aroused very little interest in the German media, certainly less than in Italy. The appeal was accepted without much fanfare, on the Court’s website there was not even the usual preliminary announcement for major appointments. The political problem seemed to have been overcome by last year’s parliamentary vote and for the FDP, which in the meantime passed from the opposition to the government with the SPD and the Greens, a rejection of the Mes would have created a few too many headaches. And the coalition in Berlin doesn’t need it right now.
