The jobs of the future (and those at risk of extinction)
“What will be the jobs of the future?” “Which jobs will disappear?” The 2023 World Economic Forum report dedicated to the labor market and its evolution revolves around these two questions. With professions that become indispensable for companies and others that instead lose attractiveness on the market to the point of becoming ghost-trades. The researchers write: “Our analysis suggests that 69 million jobs will be created and 83 million jobs will be destroyed, leading to a contraction of 14 million jobs over the next five years.” If the fastest growing roles in terms of requests are already linked to technology, digitization and sustainability today, those that are more easily automatable, in competition with artificial intelligence, will disappear. From cashiers to telemarketers to secretaries, just to name a few. The WEF survey therefore involved 803 organizations employing over 11.3 million of people around the world by identifying the main trends of tomorrow’s market.
