After premiering its first two installments at the Cannes Film Festival, “The Idol” ended up with a telling 27% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes aggregator. Needless to say, this is not a great result. Apparently, the new production and directorial work of Sam Levinson, here co-creator with Reza Fahim and Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd), has brought the “Euphoria” style to a new level of exaggeration, generating controversy, hype and conflicting testimonials from the set. The HBO-branded show, and made in tandem with the A24, will arrive in Italy on June 5 on Sky and Now. There will probably be a lot of fun, and a lot of discussion.
