Thus the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè responds to the statements of the German Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach on a visit to Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. Lauterbach a few days ago, posting a photo of the basilica of San Francesco in Siena on social media, wrote: «A beautiful medieval building but also a cold room. Churches should be open during heat waves as cold rooms during the day to offer protection.” In another tweet, the German minister had also taken a position in favor of the siesta, which is being discussed a lot in these hours in Germany, explaining: «A siesta in the heat is certainly not a bad suggestion. Employers and employees should negotiate this themselves. It would be medically useful for many professions.” And before that, referring to a visit to the Bologna area: «If things continue like this, these holiday destinations will have no long-term future».
