The former coach of the national volleyball team: “After a year in Iran I take off the veil and start dreaming again”

Alessandra Campedelli has been in charge of the Iranian team since 2022, but the conditions to continue did not exist. Even in Italy, however, it is more difficult for a coach. “I tell our young people not to waste their freedom”

Under strong women, add the name of Alessandra Campedelli. She knows volleyball well, she was at the helm of the deaf Italian national team and achieved important results with those girls: a silver at the 2017 Deaflympics, a gold at the 2019 European Championships and a silver at the 2021 World Cup. Then the big occasion: January 2, 2022 becomes the coach of the Iranian women’s national team (and together of the under 17 and 19) in a land where before her the verb of volleyball had also brought Julio Velasco. Male side, clear. And where Alessandra Campedelli believed she had the possibility of taking care of both the sporting aspect and that of social growth. She, who before being a coach was a physical education and support teacher in a middle school in the province of Trento.
