The CSM processes more files (+30%), the applause of Mattarella-Corriere.it

The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella wrote a letter to the vice president of the CSM Fabio Pinelli which was read at the opening of the Plenum of 19 April 2023. «I would like to express my appreciation for the increase in the activity of the Superior Council over the last period , achieved thanks also to the new organizational structure of the board’s work, carried out without any solution of continuity». The Head of State underlines: «It was a necessary choice to deal with a considerable amount of work accumulated over time, considering that the handling of files requires promptness but also attention to issues that present objective critical elements. I am aware of the onerous tasks that the Board of Governors is called upon to carry out; at the same time, I am well aware of the high qualification of its members as well as the professionalism of the magistrates in charge of the Secretariat and the Studies Office, all involved in various capacities in the complex activities of the institute. I am sure that everyone’s effort will allow the achievement of the common objective of ensuring the timely and effective fulfillment of the tasks that the Constitution assigns to the Council”.

Mattarella’s words underline the goodness of the results illustrated by the vice president of the CSM Pinelli. In the first quarter of the current consiliation, the CSM defined 5771 practices. In the first quarter of the previous council meeting, the CSM had defined 4428. The increase was therefore 30.3%. Only by comparing the definition of the cases in March 2022 with those of March 2023, we go from 1471 cases to 3660 cases, with a percentage increase of 150%. The month of March 2023 was the first and currently the only fully operational month with the new organizational structure of the board’s work, without solution of continuity. “A personal thanks – observed the vice president of the CSM – to all the councilors, secretarial magistrates, administrative staff and to all those who participate in various capacities in the demanding task of recovering the backlog and restoring effective efficiency of the Council Superior of the Judiciary”.
