It wasn’t a lecture or a scolding, e the two presidents, shut up for almost an hour in private in the Studio alla Vetrata, they didn’t just talk about justice. But although it is emphasized from Palazzo Chigi that the two presidents also spoke of war and the Pnrr – the head of state worried about the delays – justice was at the center of the conversation. Mattarella would not have mentioned the names of Delmastro, Santanch and La Russa, but would have started one moral suasion which follows the surprise move on Wednesday: the summoning to the Quirinale of the heads of the Court of Cassation, to make people hear closeness and solidarity to the judiciary at a time of strong conflict between powers. Still, Melons excludes that Mattarella wanted to side with the robes and thinks that the storm, if there was, is now behind us.

A minister sees it like this: The President of the Republic is also the head of the CSM, he is not with the magistrates, but with the rule of law. Not worried and does not watch the government. Certainly, however, at the Quirinale it is hoped that the Nordio bill will be revised and corrected, because it presents some critical issues that clash with international treaties of constitutional relevance, in particular the abolition of the abuse of office and the traffic of influences.

In the conversation with Meloni, the president showed appreciation for the attempt to tone it down and advised the premier to open a confrontation with the robes. Certainly not entered into the details, but in the next few days it is very probable that the councilor for legal affairs of the Colle, Daniel Cabras, make a phone call to the undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano for some targeted suggestions.

Being about a bill and not of a decree, Mattarella’s signature will be there and the text will reach the Chambers, even if the premier and minister Nordio agree on the need to push straight forward on the abolition of abuse of office. As for the risk that the reform, once approved by Parliament, may not pass the Colle examination for promulgation, Palazzo Chigi flaunts confidence: Impossible, it has never happened in eight months. Coming down from the hill, Meloni connected with the Vox rally and she renewed her support for Santiago Abascal’s Spanish patriots, convinced that they will take office on July 23: In Italy we defend our sovereignty and you do the same, don’t be afraid to vote with your own head.
