The beauty of Italy, a very unhappy country that transmits only happiness

Reading “The great enchantress” by Attilio Brilli, we rediscover and relive the fascination by which the most illustrious and attentive foreign visitors who went to our peninsula have been struck over time (especially from the eighteenth century onwards)

When I think of our Italy, its history, its society, its natural environment and its extraordinary artistic-monumental consistency … every time I think about it after trying not to think about it, rather than being proud (of what? I have?) I am moved. A happy country that transmits happiness, our country (Raffaello, Giorgione, Vivaldi would be enough …). It is a politically unhappy country (there are others in Europe too: Germany, Russia).
