Government beaten in the Chamber of Deputies on an agenda by Gianni Cuperlo of the Democratic Party on tax reform. The text, on which the Undersecretary for the Economy Federico Freni had expressed a favorable opinion, was rejected with 148 no and 131 yes. The opposition deputies say that the “majority has disavowed the undersecretary”. And Undersecretary Freni briefly leaves the Chamber before returning.

Cuperlo’s text committed the government “to carry out, coinciding with the exercise of the delegation, a vast public opinion campaign using the radio and television public service, traditional media and new media to raise public awareness of the impact of the various forms of evasion and tax avoidance, on the maintenance of essential public services starting from health, education and infrastructure”.
