Sustainability, the effort to link the Pnrr with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda through the cooperation of the Government and the Regions

NAPLES – It is the invitation that comes from the seventh edition of Sustainable Development Festival which kicked off in Naples – in the setting of the church of Saints Marcellinus and Festus – with the first of the seventeen scheduled stages, as part of a traveling program which will end in Rome, in the Chamber of Deputies, on 24 May, passing for Bologna, Milan and Turin. The objective of each stage is to explore a different dimension of sustainability (social, environmental, economic, cultural and institutional). “It seemed right to us to start here this journey which will end in Rome – the president of theItalian Alliance for Sustainable Development (Asvis)Pierluigi Stefanini – we feel the duty to have an open look at our planet and to intervene broadly on policies capable of responding to the expectations of young people”. Hence the request to “make an effort to link the Pnrr with the objectives Of Agenda 2030 where there is a gap to fill. In short, we need – concluded Stefanini – a qualitative leap for a country that is competitive and welcoming at the same time in the interest of future generations”.

However, planning must not only contain a list of projects, as has already happened in the past, but must have a coherent and systemic vision, a guide which for us is represented by theAgenda 2030 of the UN. To guarantee a future of fairness and sustainability for Italy – Giovannini added – we can follow the good practices already undertaken by some Regions, such as Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy, where the regional plans have been oriented precisely to theAgenda 2030. At the moment there are many tools and funds available which, in order to be used effectively for the transformation of the country, require strong collaboration between the Government, the Regions and the City built around the Sustainable Development Goals”.
