Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on her tour of meetings with the presidents of EU member states to prepare for the Spanish presidency of the European Council which will begin in the second half of the year.
Sanchez’s visit had been anticipated last March 24 by the Pais, which had underlined that the meeting with Meloni was the most “politically delicate” one for the socialist leader. If it is true that the Spanish prime minister and the Italian prime minister disagree on immigration, there are also many points in common on some other sensitive issues, including the reforms of the European energy market and the Stability Pact.
