In the various smart working formulas that large companies are experimenting with, there is also the hourly one, on which the multinational Unilever announces that it has signed an agreement with the unions which accelerates the diffusion of Hybrid Working 2.0.

The experimental agreement will be in force until January 2024 and provides that workers will be able to use smart working up to a maximum of 96 hours a month, choosing where, when and how to work, responding not to times or physical places, but having clear individual and team goals to achieve.

Antonella Carbone, HR manager of Unilever Italy, explains that «people are at the center of our interest and, in a working context like the current one, we know that flexibility is the key to meeting everyone’s needs and attracting new talent . Hybrid working is just one of the ways in which Unilever is committed to protecting people’s well-being and experimenting with new working models, with the aim of evolving, adapting and improving the work experience».

The parameter of the amount of smart working is no longer the day but the working hours and this will make it possible to further adapt working hours to personal needs and preferences. In any case, presence on site for the entire working day is required for at least 4 days a month. During the summer holidays and Christmas holidays (from 17 July to 15 September 2023 and from 18 December 2023 to 12 January 2024), however, employees will be able to work entirely in Hybrid mode, favoring the possibility of family reunification, which occurs in particular during these longer holiday periods.

In case of special needs, the company will evaluate the possibility of granting additional days of Hybrid Working on single request for people with special needs, such as for example those who live outside the region, caregivers or with critical family situations.
