Single check: spending over 15 billion
The total expenditure for the single allowance for dependent children between March 2022 and February 2023 exceeded 15.2 billion euros. According to the Observatory on the single INPS check, there were payments of more than 1.2 billion euros a month in 2022 and more than 1.4 billion a month for the first two months of 2023 , with reference to an average of 5.3 million applicants and 8.5 million children a month. The amounts of the check and the related Isee thresholds for 2023 have been adjusted for inflation (8.1%), recalls the INPS. The average monthly amount for each child will go from 146 euros in 2022 to 165 euros in 2023 (calculate your allowance with the simulator). Now the government intends to strengthen this measure as part of the reform plan accompanying the Def. measures are being studied, in the context of compliance with public finance objectives and budget balances, to increase the basic amounts of the single check, the document reads.
