The discount on fuel excise duties, which had already been lowered on 1 December, will end at the end of the year. And the government does not plan any renewals. But that’s not necessarily bad news. Indeed, the good news is that, looking at the data, the unpopular decision of the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti to reduce the cut – from 25 to 15 cents, which including VAT means a discount that drops from 30.5 to 18.3 cents per liter – was a wise choice. Because the constant drop in fuel prices has already compensated for the increase in excise duties.
