Schlein’s outburst: “Anti-Semitic attacks for my nose and my last name”

Stereotypes are almost always deceptive”, he vents Elly Schlein, parliamentarian and candidate for the secretariat of the Pd, to the weekly “The Post Internazionale – TPI”. “As much as I am very proud of the Jewish side of my paternal family, I am not Jewish, because as you know the transmission takes place by matrilineal line. But the craziest thing is the debate on my nose – continues the dem deputy – Because it is not a ‘ Schlein’ Jewish nose that I inherited from my father, as racists write on the net. It’s a typically Etruscan nose”.

Schlein is also keen to clarify another aspect. “Me from a rich Jewish family? Not at all! My grandfather broke his back to give his children a better future but he died early. My wealth is another fake news of anti-Semitic origin. Mine is a very normal bourgeois family “.

In recent days, the candidate for the secretariat of the Democratic Party had been attacked by George Contovas, Forza Italia deputy coordinator for the Sixth Municipality of Naples. The blue on Facebook had joined the photo of Schlein to that of neighing horses writing: “It’s always wonderful to see animals smiling”. Words which, obviously, aroused immediate protests from the Democratic Party which asked for Contovas’ resignation.
