After a phone call with the grillino leader, the dem secretary reconsiders and lets it be known that she will be present at the departure of the procession this afternoon in Rome. But the two will not share the stage

Elly Schlein thinks again: a few hours after the start of the demonstration against the government organized by the leader of the M5s Joseph Conte, the news is that the secretary of the Democratic Party will be there. “Yesterday we spoke with Elly and she anticipated that she will pass by the square to say hello”, the former premier told AGI, burning the announcement of the Nazarene. Two minutes go by and the dem staff also confirms: “He will be present at the start of the march against precariousness”.

A greeting, therefore, devised to ensure that the two do not share the stage: the protagonist will remain Conte. But if until yesterday it was certain that only a small dem delegation would participate in the Grillina demonstration, today the picture changes. The secretary will appear at the beginning of the procession.

The appointment is at 3 pm in Piazza della Repubblica, Rome. From there we will leave for Largo Corrado Ricci, where the testimonies of precarious workers, students, former recipients of the basic income will alternate on the stage, and the interventions of Giuseppe Conte, candidate to claim the title of leader of the opposition in the square.

For the occasion, the people’s advocate brought together the superbonus exoduses and those of the basic income, his warhorses, the latest generation kids, the pacifist world with Moni Ovadia, the students demonstrating against high rents in tent, the Catholics of ACLI – towards whom Conte always has an eye on – and the Arci world, a world friend of the left.

The points of convergence with Schlein, Conte assures, are there. “We cultivate a natural dialogue with the Democratic Party, we spoke with Schlein yesterday too. There are issues on which battles can be waged together and find convergences. However, we believe it is inappropriate to speak of an organic alliance. There are still important distances on the table, such as the one on the ecological transition, on the issue of weapons, on the broad field”, he explained again to Agi.

For the other piece of the opposition, that of Schlein is “a drift”. “The leader of the Italian left had never seen such a chasing after another partyjoin the procession of others by supporting other people’s theses, making oneself subordinate”, commented on Twitter the senator of the Azione-Italia viva group, Enrico Borghi. “My solidarity with the reformists of the Democratic Party, who I hope will take note of this drift”, he concluded .
