Schlein in Riano, lays flowers at Matteotti's monument

Group photo for the secretariat of the Democratic Party. With Riano Flaminio’s campaign in the background. It is the location chosen by the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, for the first meeting of the dem executive, which has just begun. The bucolic landscape, however, has nothing to do with it and neither has the theme of the environment (the delegate for Transition Annalisa Corrado is also missing, who will connect remotely). The choice fell on the municipality on the outskirts of Rome for two reasons: to follow up on the promise to bring the Democratic Party back among the people. And to celebrate the memory of Giacomo Matteotti, a socialist deputy murdered by a fascist mob and found dead in these very countryside. The secretary stopped to place a bouquet of red roses on the stele placed at the site of the discovery. In reality the stele is on Via Flaminia, but from a hole in the white marble it is possible to frame the exact point where a sergeant who was walking his dog in the Quartarella woods comes across what little remained of his body. After the homage, Schlein went to the La Rosta di Riano recreational club together with the mayor Luca Abbruzzesi. With her the members of the secretariat, almost complete. Upon arrival, Schlein was greeted by a few dozen citizens of Riani who asked to be photographed with the secretary. And someone, too enterprising, risked photo bombing: “Madam, could you please move a few meters?” A photographer asked a woman in her sixties who had taken a seat next to the dem leader, among the members of the secretariat.
