Schlein in Florence and Siena: “The government only talks about security, it ignores the work emergency”

On the hypothesis of creating a Cpr in Tuscany “we do not agree and we oppose this choice. We have always asked for greater attention to widespread acceptance and inclusion. We do not believe that other places of detention are needed. For 30 years the right has continued to deal with the phenomenon of immigration in an emergency manner, while it is structural and requires a much more adequate vision of policies also for the communities”. This was stated by the secretary of the Pd Elly Schlein on the sidelines of an electoral initiative in Campi Bisenzio (Florence) in support of the mayoral candidate Leonardo Fabbri.

In Campi, where Gkn, an auto components company that stopped production, was based, the secretary of the Democratic Party also spoke about work. We will continue to stand alongside workers and also alongside their representatives. It is incredible that there is not the slightest attention of this government on this dispute and on other disputes. The government talks about safety every day but it never talks about job security and precariousness”.

“We ask the government – also said the secretary of the Democratic Party – not to leave the Regions alone, after what we have been through with the pandemic. There are Regions that have not yet had full compensation for the expenses incurred during the Covid and we ask to invest more to ensure the right to health in Italy”. Previously Schlein had been to Siena, the city of her mother’s family, where they vote for the new mayor. We cannot accept that the technological transformation is not also accompanied by an effort to build new protections for the work that is changing, which means not accepting that when riders leave the house to bring a pizza they are not entitled to holidays, insurance and disease. We must stand by those male and female workers”. In Siena Elly Schlein took part in an initiative in support of the center-left candidate for mayor of the city of the Palio, Anna Ferretti.
