Paola Belloni puts her face in it. The partner of the Pd secretary Elly Schlein is in court in Rome, in solidarity with Roberto Saviano. It is Belloni’s first public outing, a media and cultural “escort” around the writer from Campania. It is the fourth hearing in the trial of Saviano, sued for defamation by Giorgia Meloni. The writer is accused of having given “bastards” in 2020 to her and Matteo Salvini.
Today is witness day. Journalist Corrado Formigli, presenter of Piazzapulita where Saviano criticized Meloni and Salvini, and Riccardo Noury, spokesman for Amnesty International, an association that three years ago produced a report on the “hate speech” uttered by political leaders during the electoral campaign. “In 91% of the cases – Noury reports – they targeted migrants” and were pronounced in a very large part by members of the Lega and FdI.
